Event Details

This is an Adobe Audition editing class led by House of Pod teacher Lizzie Goldsmith.

The goal of this workshop is to get you more comfortable with editing on your own. We will start with the basics, from file organization and setting up a multitrack session, to making basic edits, managing workflow, and using shortcuts. Depending on how familiar class participants are with Audition, we may dive a little deeper.

Have a laptop ready, preferably with Adobe Audition on it (there is a 7-day free trial available), or the free audio editing platform Audacity. Even if you don’t have either program, still bring your computer if possible, as I’ll be sharing my screen on Audition and other resources to follow along with, to make this class as hands-on as possible. I’ll also provide some audio editing exercises and tutorials that you can take with you and practice on your own time.

We will end the evening by listening to fiction and nonfiction podcast clips, first with just the voice tracks, then with music and sound effects in place. We’ll talk about different approaches to sound design, what works and what doesn’t, and some best practices.
