Benjamin Black is a seasoned filmmaker and proud native of Cañon City, Colorado. His journey in visual storytelling began in 2012 when he first picked up a camera, igniting a passion that would shape his career. Determined to hone his craft, he enrolled at The Art Institute of Colorado, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in Digital Filmmaking and Video Production in 2016. Under the mentorship of industry veterans like Don Dexter, Kent Youngblood, Kevin Campbell, and Jay Gluckstern, Benjamin developed a comprehensive skill set spanning all facets of film production.
During his studies, he immersed himself in a diverse curriculum that included Sociology, Critical Thinking, Scriptwriting, Video Production, Lighting, Producing and Directing, Cinematography, Video Editing, and the Business of Film. This multidisciplinary approach equipped him with the tools to navigate the complex landscape of the film industry effectively.
Benjamin's professional career was kick-started by an internship at TrueSight Media, where he contributed to marketable video content and assisted on various hunting television series. After graduating, he founded Ben Black Films, through which he has worked on a wide array of projects—including commercials, short films, documentaries, corporate marketing videos, memorials, and weddings.
His collaborations span a range of notable organizations and professionals such as Kevin Campbell Films, The Narrator Group, Cañon Thrives, Sweetwater Audio Company, Talk to the Camera, Rated Red, Sticky Docs, MacGuffin Films, The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Nigel Dick of Dick Films, and Scott Rice of Emergent Order. Benjamin has taken on multifaceted roles including production assistant, assistant camera operator, cinematographer, director of photography, director, producer, graphics and animation artist, lead video editor, and colorist.
One of his significant engagements was a six-month contract with High Noon Entertainment as an assistant editor on the television show "Flip or Flop Las Vegas." Additionally, Benjamin produced three branded content pieces for Royal Gorge Rafting, The World Famous White Water Bar and Grill, and The Edge Ziplines and Adventures. His film "Freedom of the Arkansas: An RGR Story," featuring Devin Najera, was showcased at the Arkansas Valley River Film Festival, where it was viewed by over 200 attendees.
Benjamin Black continues to dedicate himself to creating impactful visual narratives through Region's Best Stories. His commitment to excellence and passion for filmmaking drive him to explore new horizons in the industry, always striving to tell stories that resonate with audiences and contribute meaningfully to the cinematic landscape.
